January 6, 2015 – National Basketball League of Canada (NBL Canada) Brampton A’s

MISSISSAUGA, ON.- The Brampton A’s travelled 15 minutes down the road to take on it’s Peel Rival, Mississauga Power Tuesday night. In another down-to-the-wire finish, Brampton defeated Mississauga 110-105. The A’s are now 8-9 on the season and have notched two wins in its last three contests.

Brampton got off to a great start with a 10-0 run against the Power. The A’s led for the majority of the first half capitalizing off of Mississauga’s 11 turnovers. Not only did Brampton luck out with a good shooting percentage from three-point range, the A’s trumped the Power by 10 points in the paint for an overall favourable offensive flow.

The hot hands of the first stint belonged to TyShwan Edmondson who shot 86 percent from the field for 16 points and Akeem Ellis who also recorded 16 points. Omar Strong of the Power led the way for his team with 10 points. Brampton headed to the locker room up 63-53.

The second half appeared to be a lot different from the first momentum wise, as the Power fought back to challenge the A’s. Mississauga newcomer Jabs Newby displayed a sense of confidence as he went for 17 points that led to the overthrow of the Brampton advantage. The A’s found themselves down by double figures in the fourth quarter and looked to be giving in to the Power’s energy. The A’s did not go away easily and buckled down on defence while hitting key shots and getting to the free throw line to keep the game close. Brampton regained its lead nearing the final period. Despite a clutch three by the Power’s Omar Strong with 2:25 left of play, the A’s remained poised and played smart right down to the final seconds. The A’s now hold a 4-1 record in the season series against the Power.

Edmondson led all scorers with 28 points shooting over 60 percent from both the field and beyond the arc. Thomas Granado and Ellis finished the game with 10 rebounds apiece. Newby led Mississauga with 27 points.

Next up the A’s will travel to Windsor to take on the defending champions this Thursday at 7 pm. Visit www.bramptonas.ca for a live stream of the action. Brampton will return to the Powerade Centre this Friday to take on the Halifax Rainmen for the first time this season.
