TORONTO A driver was reportedly travelling up to 190 km/h in a horrific crash that killed a driver in Mississauga early Thursday.

The driver of the car lost control, struck a pole and the vehicle was split in half just after midnight, Peel Regional Police Sgt. David Kennedy said.

Debris from the crash was found as far as 700 metres away, Const. Lilly Fitzpatrick told reporters.

Certainly the scene was quite extensive. Damaged parts were found a significant distance away from the location of the crash itself, Kennedy told QMI Agency.

According to reports, the car was travelling up to 190 km/h before the crash more than three times the posted speed limit of 60 km/h.
