Express Back on Top After Road Win

January 25, 2015

January 24, 2015 – National Basketball League of Canada (NBL Canada) Windsor Express

(MISSISSAUGA, ON) The Windsor Express (16-7) were without three of their starters on the road, but solid contributions from backups worked in their favour for a 106-96 victory on the road.

Mississauga (7-14) had a 28-24 advantage over Windsor in the first quarter.

From there, it was all Express.

They outscored the Power 27-21 in the second quarter, taking a 51-49 lead going into halftime.

Windsor picked up steam in the second half, as they dominated in the third quarter 26-15, and held on as Mississauga made a comeback in the fourth, 29-32.

Ryan Anderson made his third start for the Express, and had the team’s only double double with 27 points and 10 rebounds.

Kevin Loiselle put up 8 rebounds and Josh Collins dished out a game high 10 assists as a starter.

Warren Ward of Mississauga came off the bench and contributed a team high 24 points, followed by Travis Releford with 19 points.

The Express were able to win on the road without guards, Gary Gibson and Tony Bennett, as well as forward Chris Commons in the lineup due to injury.

Windsor’s win keeps them in first place within the Central Conference and will move ahead of the Island Storm for first place in the league.

The Power will make the trip to visit the Express, who are currently 11-0 at home, on Saturday, January 31st at the WFCU Centre for a 7:00pm start.
