For sale, again: Mississauga mansion goes back on the block

It seems selling a French-chateau style mansion at half-price is not an easy task.

The sprawling 23-room Mississauga home that was on the auction block in January, will be on offer again after the mysterious “local couple” who saw their $6.2 million deal fall through.

The custom-built mansion – which sits next to a ravine – initially went up for auction after its owner was unable to attract offers at its original list price of $11 million.

The second auction for the sprawling “Saxony Manor” is set for Sunday, but this time it’s sharing the limelight with another luxury home: a 9,000 sq. ft. resort-style home located minutes away.

Originally priced at $8 million, the open-concept mansion — which features an indoor pool, hotel-style rooms and nanny quarters — is expected to attract offers in the range of $5.5 million. The modern three-storey home also features a home gym, a sound-proof home theatre and an expansive parking garage with space for up to 14 cars.

“This is a huge opportunity for anyone looking to purchase a spectacular home, on one of the most expensive streets in Canada, with homes upwards of $30 million,” Hon. Col. Kashif Khan, managing director of Ritchies Auctioneers said in a statement.

For those not interested in buying the whole home, its accoutrements — including a Rolls Royce Ghost which has a retail value of about $400,000, and a 18 carat white gold Rolex watch encrusted with diamonds, which has a retail value of about $80,000 – will also be offered for sale.

“This level of luxury in this home deserves only the best to complete its interior,” Khan said.

The auction for both properties will take place on Sunday at Oakridge Public School, at 2 p.m. at 2060 Stonehouse Cres.

Savvy mansion-hunters interested in placing a bid (or two) will be required to put down a credit card deposit on the day of the auction.
