Late Comeback Not Enough, Power Lose to SkyHawks 106-93

January 4, 2014

January 4, 2014 – National Basketball League of Canada (NBL Canada) Mississauga Power

(Mississauga, ON – ) Despite a strong first quarter and a late fourth quarter run, the Power lost to the Ottawa SkyHawks tonight 106-93. Five players scored in double digits for the Power, including Nick Okorie, who tallied 18 points, 10 assists and 7 rebounds. The SkyHawks’ Justin Tubbs led all scorers with 31 points.

The Power came out of the gate strong in the first quarter, building up a three point lead. The SkyHawks responded in the second quarter, scoring at will on the home team, building a 51-44 lead heading to halftime. Thijin Moses looked good early on, converting on all four of his 3 point attempts for 14 points.

The SkyHawks continued to put the pressure on building a lead that ballooned up to 18 points in the fourth quarter. The Power responded with a 13-2 run, cutting the SkyHawks lead down to just seven. The game however, was too far out of reach as the Power were not able to complete the late comeback attempt. The Power have now lost eight in a row and have fallen to 7-17 for the season.

The Power travel to Windsor for an early 2pm tipoff tomorrow afternoon against the Express and will return to the Hershey Centre on January 8th to play a second game against the Express.
