February 9, 2014 – Ontario Hockey League (OHL) Ottawa 67’s

The Ottawa 67’s recorded an important win on Sunday that could have major playoff implications in the final weeks of the regular season, downing the Mississauga Steelheads 4-2 in Mississauga.

Rookie Travis Konecny scored during a powerplay in the third period to break a 2-2 tie and get the winning goal, the 19th marker of the season for Konency.

Dante Salituro and Brendan Bell scored to give the 67’s a 2-0 advantage, but the Steelheads tied the game before the end of the middle period.

Alex Lintuniemi scored into an empty net to seal the victory, and also added an assist.

Philippe Trudeau made 39 saves for the victory, which moves the 67’s to within one point of the final playoff spot in the Ontario Hockey League Eastern Conference. The win also moved Ottawa to within four points of Mississauga, which currently sits in seventh place, although the 67’s have played three fewer games.

The 67’s have two more road games (Wednesday in Peterborough and Friday in Oshawa) before returning home to Canadian Tire Centre on Family Day, Feb. 17 for a 2 p.m. start against the Owen Sound Attack.
