Mississauga man arrested in armed Oakville home invasion

A 19-year-old Mississauga man is facing  charges in connection with an armed home invasion that took place in northeast Oakville March 23.

On that day, four men  in dark clothing forced their way into an apartment where a women was home alone.

Halton police reported the suspects were allegedly armed with knives and demanded money and drugs before forcing the woman into the bedroom, stealing several valuables and then fleeing.

During a subsequent police investigation, forensic officers obtained a fingerprint from where an Xbox had been stolen.

As a result, police went to a Mississauga home May 27 to make an arrest however the suspect fled in a vehicle. During a police chase that ensued, a vehicle was driven onto a sidewalk and struck two unmarked police vehicles before the driver fled the area.

On Thursday, June 12, an individual surrendered himself  at the Oakville police station.

Tajahan Donovan Kelly, 19, of Mississauga faces charges of robbery, break and enter, dangerous operation of a vehicle, possession of a dangerous weapon and wearing a disguise with intent.

He has been held for a bail hearing.
