Mississauga man faces 2 charges

BRADFORD – A Mississauga man has been arrested in connection with the sale of roofing supplies worth more than $125,000.

South Simcoe police detectives began looking into a suspected fraud at a business in January.

A lumber yard manager told police a salesman had been selling roofing supplies, collecting payments from contractors and not remitting them to the company.

Police say the cash was instead pocketed, while the company was told the funds were still owed.

A 44-year-old man is charged with theft over $5,000 and fraud over $5,000. He has a May court date.

Police say none of the funds have been recovered.
