Steelheads Face off against Connor McDavid & the Erie Otters in Oakville

September 12, 2014 – Ontario Hockey League (OHL) Mississauga Steelheads

Mississauga, ON – The Mississauga Steelheads will wrap up their exhibition schedule this Sunday, September 14th at 3:00 pm as they take on the Erie Otters at the Sixteen Mile Sports Complex in Oakville.

Fans will get a close up look at two of the premier young talents in the OHL as Connor McDavid will go up against Steelheads defenceman Sean Day. Both players were granted Exceptional Player status by Hockey Canada with McDavid making his debut in the 2012 season, and Day making his during the 2013 season. McDavid is coming off of a 2013 season that saw him finish 4th in OHL scoring with 99 points (28 goals, 71 assists).

Entering the 2014-2015 OHL season and McDavid’s NHL draft year, most in the hockey world have McDavid as the consensus #1 overall pick in 2015 NHL draft. Referred to as a “generational talent”, McDavid has been a highly watched player across the league since his minor hockey days in the GTA. Day, who will be eligible for the 2016 NHL is coming off a strong rookie season, where he played regular minutes for a young Steelheads team. With a year under his belt, he has already shown improvement in his game early in the exhibition season, and looks to cap that off with a big performance in Oakville.

The Steelheads will look to shut down the Otters’ potent offense and get revenge after falling to Erie 5-3 in their first pre-season encounter.

With only a few weeks left until the 2014-2015 regular season gets under way, the Steelheads are eager to connect with the community by hosting their exhibition games at local arenas all around the city again this year. Tickets will be available for sale on location on the day of the game for $5.00.

Don’t miss a minute of exciting OHL action! Mississauga Steelheads season tickets for the 2014-15 season are on sale now for as low as $399.
