Steelheads Simulated

March 5, 2014

March 4, 2014 – Ontario Hockey League (OHL) Mississauga Steelheads

MISSISSAUGA, ON – With the Eastern Conference Playoff race heating up, every game is crucial in deciding who grabs the last two spots in the conference. With one point separating seventh and ninth places, Mississauga’s visit to Ottawa on Tuesday night will go a long way in determining who’s in and who’s out.

With the 67’s heading into the game with a slight advantage in the season series, Mississauga will need a great effort to not only knot the series, but extend their lead in the standings. According to Steelheads Simulated, a gritty game accomplished both of those tasks, although not as well as hoped for.

In our simulation, Ottawa took an early lead, however the Steelheads fought back to head into the break with goals by Everett Clark and Artem Rasulov. Ottawa would once again score early in the period, but Greg DiTomaso would once again restore the lead heading into the intermission. As was the case in their last meeting at the Hershey Centre, Travis Konecny proved to be the late-game hero, however the extra frame allowed Brett Foy to shine and score the game-winner. Spencer Martin was named the first star for contributing on both sides of the puck: stopping 37 shots while picking up an assist. While a regulation victory would have been huge, at this point in the season every point is crucial, and the Steelheads will hope to do at least that in their actual game tonight!

Your next chance to catch the Steelheads live in action will be this Friday night as the North Bay Battalion visit the Hershey Centre for the final time this season. Be sure to log on to Ticketmaster or visit the Hershey Centre Box Office to pick up your tickets as we play our third-last game of the season!
