January 31, 2015 – National Basketball League of Canada (NBL Canada) Windsor Express

(WINDSOR, ON) Kirk Williams Jr. scored a game high 23 points against his old club, as the Windsor Express fought off Mississauga for a 101-90 victory at the WFCU Centre on Saturday night.

Williams Jr. was acquired by the Express (17-7) from Mississauga (6-17) on December 11th, in exchange for a first round pick in the 2015-2016 NBL draft.

In his previous 12 games with Windsor, Williams Jr. had averaged 4.3 points in almost 10 minutes of play but earned over 32 minutes tonight.

Windsor pulled out a 22-19 first quarter lead and increased that by doubling the Power in the second, 28-14 for a 50-33 advantage at halftime.

Williams Jr. had 15 at the half, helped by DeAndre Thomas’ 13 points.

The second half gave Mississauga new life, cutting a 21 point Windsor lead down to 14 at the end of the third, and as close as five points with just over six minutes left in the fourth.

JaMarcus Ellis nailed a jumper a minute later to stretch the Express lead to nine and extend Windsor’s home winning streak to 12 games.

Ryan Anderson equaled Williams Jr. with 23 points for the Express.

Mississauga’s Travis Releford also had 23 points.

Windsor now leads the London Lightning by three games in the Central Conference and pushed the Power 10.5 games behind.

The Express will be back at the WFCU Centre on Wednesday, February 4th against London at 7:00pm.
