Woman slain in Mississauga

MISSISSAUGA –

The owner of a successful chain of spas, who barely survived a vicious knife attack in November, vanished several days ago and is now feared dead.

Ming-Chien “Teresa” Hsin’s luxury car, which she was thought to be driving when she went missing, was found in front of an office tower near Hurontario St. and Burnhamthorpe Rd. on Friday, Peel Regional Police said.

Inside the black BMW was the body of a slain woman, whose identity is being withheld pending the notification of family.

“It is the vehicle we were looking for in connection with the missing person’s investigation earlier in the week,” Const. George Tudos confirmed Saturday, unable to say if the murder victim is the missing 59-year-old.

Hsin, the founder and CEO of Relaxology Wellness Centre, was last seen around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday near Rathburn Rd. and Hurontario St. — an area where one of her 15 spas is located.

Police issued a public appeal for help finding her Thursday, explaining Hsin may be driving her 2008 black BMW 750L, a four-door car with the personalized Ontario licence plate RELAX88.

Police also said her disappearance was “out of character” and her family was “concerned for her wellbeing.”

The fact Hsin suffered life-threatening injuries in a brutal stabbing five months ago in the underground garage of her luxury townhouse on Shipp Dr. — a couple hundred metres from where the unidentified murder victim was found in the missing woman’s missing BMW — no doubt caused added concern.

Hsin’s son called 911 after finding his mom with multiple stab wounds on last Nov. 13.

Her attacker has not been found and the case remains unsolved, Tudos said.

A passerby noticed Hsin’s BMW parked in a handicapped spot mere steps from the office building’s front doors around 1:20 p.m. Friday, he said.

Upon peering inside, the passerby saw the dead woman and called 911.

Officers responded to the scene, recognized the dead woman suffered “obvious signs of trauma” and homicide detectives were notified, Tudos said.

A post-mortem examination will be conducted to determine how and when the woman was killed, he said.

Hsin’s relatives could not be reached for comment Saturday.

But a family friend spoke briefly to City News following the grisly discovery inside Hsin’s vehicle.

“We just don’t want to believe it’s real,” Alysha Day said. “I don’t want to say that I hope it’s someone else because I’d never wish that on anybody.”

Hsin opened her first Relaxology Wellness Centre on Lakeshore Rd. W., near Clarkson Rd., in 2006. And then-mayor Hazel McCallion was on hand in 2009 when she opened another Mississauga location.

Since then, Hsin has opened spas across the GTA.

Locations in Mississauga were closed Saturday but the Relaxology Wellness Centres website explains the many treatments offered at their spas help relieve stress, tension and pain while improving overall wellbeing.

Anyone with information regarding this investigation should call Peel Regional Police at 905-453-2121, ext. 3205, or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
